The Executive MBA Program of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Before, EMBA students attended B-schools to improve their skills and perform better for the companies that were supporting their way. There is an increasing number of people no longer relying on their companies for the expenses of the executive MBA program, though. It is said that this may well be the reason for the growing number of professionals going into career changes following their studies.

It was only about ten years ago that people really started getting interested in the EMBA. About three or so years ago, more and more people started asking for a career version of the EMBA. According to a survey on students regarding their needs, about 30 to 40% of them are seeking to make a career shift.

Nowadays, business schools are natural incubators. There are many methods of shifting careers, and a lot of them have been shown by Executive MBA students over the years. Many B-schools started by bringing in career counselling specifically to coach EMBA students, whose needs vary from those studying full-time.

To get into an EMBA, you need to prove that you have at least 7 years of working experience behind you, which stacks up to considerable experiential knowledge. That having been said, many of the students are still asking their academic institutions to provide help in locating the professions of their choice. A staggering number of EMBA-takers are asserting, though, that their institutions are slow to deliver a helping hand in the matter.

Fortunately for degree-takers, many institutions are now giving them what they want. Other career-related services are dished out by other colleges. Obviously, the services are all meant to help the students end up in the profession they desire.

Majority of the people entering the course are yet demanding more help, though. The problem is that more people are taking the courses and fewer companies looking to hire. A lot of the people in the course are in it partly to make it easier for themselves to find a good alternative for their current positions.

Some colleges argue that a number of firms are still sponsoring their employees' studies, and so there is little need for career counseling. This has changed. This is now becoming a course where students decide to take themselves from their companies and to other ones.

It is no longer as it used be. More and more institutions are joining forces to help students make a career shift. Most EMBA universtities still do not provide true career programs, even so.

A lot of people thus turn to campus-based recruitment events. However, a number of colleges are not entirely keen on the idea. Universities are saying that when the students come into the course holding down a position with a company, there would be little need for placement services.

The many types of Executive MBA program, schools say, are intended to train students, not to lead them to other jobs directly. Even if some experts say we can expect companies to begin sponsoring employees again soon, more say otherwise, thinking the course now one where students find the resources for changing occupations. It is necessary for the colleges to adapt to these changes.
